Is this a low fat snack recipe? Or a low fat chilli bean dip recipe? I think it’s both. I love this dip because it’s a bit spicy, and it goes well with rice crackers, pita bread, or low fat crackers. 1 serve = 2 Tbsp.
As I said before… and I say it again: “losing weight does not have to be boring”. The image many people have about “eating healthy food” is eating celery and lettuce with lemon juice for the rest of their lives!
But eating healthy food does not have to translate into self deprivation. This is an example of the simple – and yet delicious – type of low fat snacks you can have every day.
This recipe makes about 1.5 cups, so everyone gets a couple of loaded spoonfuls of this delicious dip! (or you can be just a bit greedy, and go for seconds!) 😉
Ingredients for chilli bean dip:
- 1 x 425 g can of red kidney beans
- 1 1/2 tsp of virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp of chilli powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 small onion, chopped
This is what you do:
Blend the red kidney beans and add the olive oil, till the mix becomes a smooth and creamy bean paste.
Then stir in the rest of the ingredients and blend once again.
This is, indeed a quick and nice vegetarian snack.
